1914 - 1918 View of the High Street from the Green

A view of the High Street from the Village Green. It shows the little general store (Tuck Shop).

All Saints Church in is the distance. Tithe Farm, with its distinctive four chimneys is on the right.

Two soldiers walking in the road date this to WW1.

The white building appears in the 1830 painting "Village of Houghton" by George Arnald, which can be viewed by clicking here.
