1915 circa The Old Windmill and Steam Driven Mill

1915 circa The Old Windmill and Steam Driven Mill

The old windmill at the end of Mill Road.

The steam driven mill, complete with engine sheds, is on the left.

The windmill was tower mill, a type of vertical windmill consisting of a brick or stone tower, on which sits a wooden 'cap' or roof, which can rotate to bring the sails into the wind.

The photograph was taken before the 1920s when the mill was derelict.
