The Houghton Regis Heritage Society was formed in 2012 with nine individuals who are passionate about the heritage of Houghton Regis and want to preserve and record it for the benefit of the local community and for future generations. In 2017 the Society became a Registered Charity (Charity No 1174720).

The Society has acquired an archive of pictures compiled by Mrs Pat Lovering, a Houghton Regis resident. The collection was kindly donated by her son. We are making the collection more widely available. The collection can be seen usually on the Society’s Stands at Carnivals, shows and other events in the town. Making viewing available over the net has been a huge project for the Society. A big thank you goes to Roger Turner and David Hill for making this project possible.

THE ARCHIVE

The Archive is a heritage project run by Houghton Regis Heritage Society in partnership with The Houghton Hall Park Renaissance Project which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Society is responsible for running the project and its content. Most of the material in the Archive comes from the Pat Lovering collection and the Town Council, but items have also been contributed by our many partners and by generous donations from the general public. We are grateful to our Sponsors Zebra Properties and Up Above The Streets and Houses.

The Archive continues to grow and provides a record of Houghton Regis from all periods in the form of photographs, postcards, posters, maps letters, books and audio recordings of residents recalling their memories of the town. More material is being added all the time.
