A post card view of Houghton Hall dated 1910. Houghton Hall was built by Dame Alice Milard. She was the daughter of Henry Brandreth, Lord of the Manor from c1654.
The Hall was finished in 1700 and extensively refurbished in c1846. It gradually superseded the old Manor House which was on the opposite side of the Green (Drury Lane).
The Brandreths lived at Houghton Hall until it was sold by Henry Chernoke Gibbs Brandreth in 1908 when it was sold to Lt Col (later Sir) Dealtry Charles Part. Since the death of Sir Dealtry the Hall has been used as offices.
