Frederick John Alsop

Fred Alsop GB Olympic Triple Jumper

Frederick Alsop, who lived in Leafields, was selected to represent GB in the Triple Jump at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games.

He came fourth with a jump of 16 metres 46 cm. The Gold Medal jump was 16 m 85 cm.

In 1964 a new cul-de-sac was being built off Leafields and it was named Alsop Close in his honour.
