2000 Memorial Stone

A memorial stone, erected on the Green to remember those from Houghton Regis who gave their lives in many conflicts, was purchased from £10,000 raised by the charitable efforts of three past Town Mayors, Mr Pat Hamill (1999/2000), Mrs Deborah Hamill (2000/2001) and the late Mr Stephen Howell (2001/2002). The picture shows Mr Pat Hamill and Mrs Deborah Hamill. On the lorry can be seen part of the stone with the wording chosen by Margaret Brown. The picture was taken in 2000.
