1917 Bricklayers Arms High Street Houghton Regis

The Bricklayers Arms was a Pub located where the current Bedford Square shopping precinct now stands. In this postcard view the sign can only be seen. All Saints Church is in the right of the picture, in front of which is Workhouse Row (Alms Houses) now a car park. The Old Fire Station can also be seen. In the distance is the old Kings Arms on the corner of Bedford Road. The picture is undated but from the 1914-1918 period.

Card sent to Miss J Meakins, Port Arms, South Parade Deal, Kent
Dearest Jess
The card as promised. No news, as I think I have managed to tell you all in my letter tonight. The village is more like Ash, I think.
Best love Yours
