The floor of All Saints Church Houghton Regis has the Tombstones of the Brandreth Family. The photograph here is of Dame Alice Milard, who with her husband Sir William Milard, built Houghton Hall which was completed in 1700.
The inscription reads:
Here Lieth the Body of Dame Alice Milard Widow and Relict of Sir William MilardKn (and before the Widow and Relict of Thomas Smyth Esq and only Daughter of Henry Brandreth Esq and Alice his wife) Who died in Yr Lord Y 5th Day of May 1729 in Y 80th Year of her Age.
Looking for that blessed hope and the Glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Titus Chap: 2: Ver 13
And this is the Record of that God hath Given to us Eternal Life: and this Life is in his Son : John Chap 5 Verse 24
(The Epistle to Titus is one of the three pastoral epistles (along with 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy) in the New Testament, historically attributed to Paul the Apostle. It is addressed to Saint Titus and describes the requirements and duties of presbyters/bishops.)
