The Annual Beer-barrel Rolling Competition in 1962. This was covered by BBC television.
The Chequers, the Five Bells, The Crown and the Red Lion pubs all provided four-man teams. The competition was a dash along the High Street to the Green.
On this occasion, the Crown won and received the team cup and a pint of beer each.
The contest was part of the annual fete in aid of the Memorial Hall Fund.
