The High Street Houghton Regis Looking East in the Late 19th Century

A view of the High Street looking East. The postcard is undated, but W. Fletcher is listed in the Post Office Directory for 1877 as a boot maker and George Wilson was the landlord of the Five Bells.

Tithe Farm appears in the centre background.

In the Parish Valuation of 1797 the owner of the Five Bells was Stanley Bullock. Mr Todd "Five Bells & Orchard Value £3-14s-9d Rate 3/9d".
