The Older Boundaries of Houghton Regis

The boundaries of Houghton Regis.

Where the Roman road (Watling Street) crossed Icknield Way, Houghton Land was on three sides of the crossroad. To the South the boundary ran along the bottom of Blows Downs (where Jean's Way is now) as far as Watling Street. The boundary then ran along the Icknield Way on the West Street side as far as the Green lane, this was Houghton Regis grazing land.

The Western boundary followed Green Lane and included the Maidenbower and Sewell. The Northern boundary was just beyond and included Thorn, Calcutt Farm and Grove Farm. The Eastern side included where Parkside is now and the land West of Poynters Road, which is now Lewsey Farm.
