Blue Circle Portland Cement Company

The J B Forder Lime Works operated in Sewell next to the lime quarry in the 19th century. It was sold to Blue Circle in 1912 and renamed the Dunstable Lime Company.
The Dunstable Cement Works was constructed by Red Triangle in Houghton Regis in 1925/1926.
Blue Circle took over the works in 1931 and it was closed in 1971. It was originally called the Dunstable Portland Cement Works.
