Sometime in the 1940s there was a fun football match on the Green - the adults v the local "nippers". The adult's team was:
Mr Bob Smith. Mr Fred Cook, Mr Foulkes, Mr Ted Todd, Mr Williams, My H Bandy (goalkeeper), Mr Arthur Wallace, Mr Ron Pemberton
Mr Perce Meacham, Mr Hamilton and Archie Wallace
The adult's team arrived in Mr Reg Green's horse-drawn cart, driven by Mr Albert Gadsden.
The opponents were local youngsters, but who were they?
A good time was evidently had by all.
In the background is the old Thomas Whitehead school building.
