The celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, there was a beer-barrel rolling competition, which ran down the High Street from the Crown Inn to the Five Bells and back.
On the left is the former fire station bedecked with bunting. In the centre the four-chimneyed Tithe Farm house and to the right Perry's shop - green grocer.
