A view of the High Street from the church tower.
The Alms Houses can be seen in the foreground. Houghton Hall is in the far background. FW Pratt's the butcher's shop is the white building to the left. The Freeman family home is to the left of the white painted house.
This photograph was taken before Whitehouse Close was built in 1958.
All the houses and shot have been demolished and replaced with the old co-op site to the left and Rosalyn House (a care home) in the centre. See the item "High Street, Houghton Regis 2003" in this collection.
