The lock-up was built on to the end of Workhouse Row (the Alms Houses, outside All Saints Church, Houghton Regis) and was used to detain drunks and petty criminals overnight, before sending them to Luton Police Station.
The door to the former lock-up can now be found on display at Stockwood Discovery Museum, Luton.
