A view of Houghton Regis looking South from All Saints Church Tower in 2003.
To the left is the Bedford Square Shopping Centre. In front of the Church and graveyard is a cark park where Workhouse row (the Alms Houses) and the Lock-up once stood.
In the centre is the Co-Op supermarket which was destroyed by fire in June 2006. It was replaced with a smaller store but closed in 2014 and demolished in 2015. The site is owned by Central Bedfordshire Council, who will build Houghton Regis Central. CBC say:
"Houghton Regis Central is an independent living scheme for people aged 55 and over. It will include 168 one and two bedroom apartments for rent, shared ownership and outright purchase. Residents will have access to private lounge areas and garden. The development will also include a range of amenities for residents and the general public to enjoy." Click here for more information
The High Street runs from left to right towards the Green on the far right hand side.
