1957 Beer Barrel Rolling Down the High Street Houghton Regis

A picture of a group of men, getting ready for the annual beer barrel rolling race down the High Street. One competitor is having a sign attached to his back. Signs read "5 Bells", "Crown", "Red Lion". Competitors were teams from local pubs.

A cine photographer from Pathe News was recording this build up to the race. The recording can be viewed on the Pathe News Website

Proceeds were given to the Memorial Hall Building Fund.
