Community Facilitator / Local Hero
Winner - Julie Cawthorne
I am thrilled to nominate Julie Cawthorne for the Pride of Houghton Regis Local Hero Award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the community and the remarkable care she provides to the Houghton Regis Memorial Hall and its beautiful garden.
Although Julie is well known for her role as the Booking Secretary and Caretaker for the Memorial Hall, she is so much more than that. Julie has become a vital, green-fingered force in the community, lovingly tending to the much-loved Memorial Garden at the front of the Hall. Overlooking the village green, the garden is a place of beauty enjoyed by hundreds, if not thousands of people every day. Julie’s dedication to keeping the garden in perfect bloom not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the Hall but also provides a serene and welcoming space for all who pass by.
The pride Julie takes in her work is nothing short of inspiring. Her attention to detail and passion for the Memorial Garden mean that it is always beautiful, vibrant, and perfectly maintained, making it a true testament to her love for the community. Whether it’s weeding, planting, or simply ensuring everything is in its place, Julie’s care and effort shine through in every corner of the garden.
For her tireless dedication, passion for the community, and the joy she brings to all who experience the garden, Julie Cawthorne is an incredibly deserving nominee for the Local Hero Award. The pride she takes in everything she does for our community is truly blooming brilliant!
