Winner – Paul Bowen-James
Paul set up Kids in Action, a charity for children and adults with special needs 29 years ago. The charity started out at the community centre in Houghton Regis with no more than 8 children attending and since then he has built up its offering to include clubs for adults as well as children. There are now between 400 and 500 service users using the centre each week.
Kids in Action is a lifeline to so many. Paul has dedicated his life to making Kids in Action a success and in creating a safe haven where children and adults with special needs can be themselves. Paul has given his all to the charity and he is still as passionate now as he was when he first set the charity up 29 years ago.
