Joint Winner - The Memorial Hall
The Memorial Hall has been open around 80 years and has seen many changes to Houghton Regis over this time.
More recently, the Hall has undergone some significant upgrades and improvements to bring it in line with the modern day to include a new car park, upgraded toilets and a new kitchen to name just a few.
The Hall serves the local community from the cradlw to the grave by offering a space for residents to hire for events such as Christenings, Birthdays, Engagements and Wakes as well as providing opportunities for local people to meet and chat at the weekly Bingo and regular events such as Race Nights, Craft Fairs and Afternoon Tea's.
Thanks to these events the Memorial Hall provides people with somewhere to go during the day or in the evening and it is, therefore, a lifeline for the residents of Houghton Regis particularly as they grow older. The Memorial Hall helps to bring about community cohesion and offers warmth and friendship for those seeking support or for those just looking for a friendly face.
